Kirk v. Walton [2009] EWHC 703 (QB)

William Featherby Q.C. has just led the team that successfully prosecuted a malingering claimant for contempt of court. Mrs Joanne Kirk claimed to have been rendered virtually immobile and to have contracted fibromyalgia as a result of a minor road accident. In the first case of its kind, Coulson J, sitting in Liverpool and having viewed extensive videos of Mrs Kirk, found that she had lied about her alleged immobility; he fined her and ordered her to pay substantial costs.
