Corinne Novell

Corinne joined Chambers in October 2023 following the successful completion of her pupillage. She frequently advocates in court in personal injury, road traffic accidents, credit hire, negligence, breach of contract and occupier’s liability claims. Corinne also has a growing paperwork practice across these areas.

During her pupillage, she gained a wide breadth of experience in clinical negligence, personal injury, inquests, industrial disease, travel, military and employment work. She is interested in all the core areas of Chambers’ expertise.

Prior to pupillage, Corinne obtained a Distinction on the BTC, having been awarded scholarships from Lincoln’s Inn and BPP University to undertake her studies. She obtained a Masters degree, specialising in medical and labour law, from the University of Cambridge. Corinne obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Durham, where she placed first in her cohort in her first year and ranked first in modules on the law of Individual rights and the State, the EU Internal Market, Tort and the UK Constitution.

Personal Injury

Corinne regularly appears or advises in claims involving road traffic accidents, claims pursued via the CICA, occupier’s liability and Highways Act claims. She has a strong paperwork practice in this area; she drafts statements of case and advises on prospects of success, liability and quantum.

RTAs & Credit Hire

Corinne is frequently instructed in claims for vehicle damage and credit hire charges.  She is well-versed with the relevant authorities and regularly has success for both Claimants and Defendants. In particular, she is excellent at disproving impecuniosity and winning on arguments relating to intervention offers.

Clinical Negligence

Corinne is interested in all areas of clinical negligence and is keen to expand her practice in this field, having gained considerable experience under the supervision of Vanessa Cashman and Rachit Buch.

Industrial Disease

Corinne obtained experience in this area during her pupillage, observing cases involving the development of diffuse pleural thickening, silicosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer. She is keen to be instructed in industrial disease work as a tenant.

Inquests

As a pupil, Corinne attended numerous inquests and pre-inquest review hearings, including those involving allegations of clinical negligence, industrial disease and personal injury; in particular within clinical and care home settings. She is eager to develop her inquest practice further and will consider pro bono instructions.
